The Production Chain
 
 
The production chain sets out the complete path of the product from the producer to the consumer. In the case of Caviro, the production chain stretches from the wine growers who supply the grapes, to our partner wineries that vinify to our strict specifications through to Caviro where the final blending, packaging and marketing processes are implemented.

Caviro has an integrated approach to its production chain - each step of the process, from vine to shelf, is tightly controlled in order to guarantee consistent quality, reliability and traceability.

Caviro is a fully integrated Co-operative partner. We have developed long-term strategic agreements with our winery partners that guarantee stability across all levels of the business, and consistent production of high quality wine. Over 90% of our total grape crush is sourced from a winery partners, a figure that is unrivalled by other Italian Co-operatives. We create, in association with our partner wineries and vineyards, the best quality wines from a number of key grape varieties and regions.

Our broad geographical reach is key in ensuring consistent and reliable quality from one vintage to the next.

Our team of over 30 winemakers support our partners in all aspects of viticulture and winemaking, working together to achieve our operational goals and ensure consistent quality and stability throughout the entire winemaking process. This ensures that the winemaking process adheres to our stringent quality controls and product specifications.

Our long-term relationships with our partner wineries ensure continued and consistent supply and maintenance of quality across every aspect of the winemaking process.
This is very much a partnership, with Caviro working with the partner winery to determine, for example, the site selection for a specific varietal, the yield of certain vineyard block or the processing method to be used during production.

Our experience and expertise allows our partner wineries and vineyards to increase their collective knowledge and skill base – enabling them to ‘grow’ and develop whilst also ensuring improved efficiency and quality across all aspects of the winemaking process.

In addition, we have an experienced tasting panel, which constantly reviews our product offer to ensure our wines are appropriate for our target export markets.

The entire Caviro supply chain has been certified by the Italian National Agency for Standardization under the voluntary UNI EN ISO 22005:2008 code, which sets out the principles and basic requirements for the design and implementation of a system of traceability within the supply chain.
