Forlì, May 2025 – Caviro presents the sixth edition of its Sustainability Report, reaffirming a solid, forward-looking cooperative model that successfully combines economic growth, environmental responsibility, and local community development.
In the 2023/2024 fiscal year, the Group invested over €12 million in ESG initiatives, further integrating its industrial strategy with sustainability planning. The company’s approach is aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda, with concrete actions targeting 10 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“La sostenibilità per noi è un impegno reale e quotidiano, che parte dalla responsabilità verso il territorio e le persone. Con il nostro modello vogliamo generare valore condiviso e duraturo”, afferma Carlo Dalmonte, Presidente di Caviro.
Circular Economy and Environmental Innovation
At the heart of Caviro’s environmental strategy is a circular ecosystem designed to transform waste into new resources. Each year, the Group processes more than 110,000 tons of winemaking by-products to produce high-value outputs such as alcohol, tartaric acid, and biofuels. In addition, over 500,000 tons of agri-food waste are regenerated through anaerobic digestion, composting, and energy production.
Key results include:
80,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions avoided
90 million kWh of electricity and 101 million kWh of biofuels generated
543 million liters of water recovered, covering 40% of the Group’s water needs
Among the most innovative initiatives is the inauguration in Forlì of Italy’s largest agrivoltaic system on a vineyard, developed in collaboration with the research community. The project enables the generation of renewable energy while studying the effects of vine shading on yield and plant quality.
Economic Growth and Shared Value
In the 2023/2024 fiscal year, Caviro recorded a consolidated revenue of €385 million, with EBITDA up by 3%. The total economic value generated amounted to €420 million, over 90% of which was redistributed to stakeholders including members, employees, suppliers, public entities, and local communities.
With 14,900 member winegrowers, 34,100 hectares of vineyards, and production accounting for over 9% of Italy’s total grape harvest, Caviro remains the largest winery in the country and a key player in the European wine sector.
Social Responsibility and a Conscious Wine Culture
In 2024, Caviro was recognized as an official Ambassador of the Wine in Moderation program, promoting the culture of responsible wine consumption. This commitment is also reflected in the development of the Tavernello Spritz low-alcohol line (6.5%), crafted for both the domestic retail market and international distribution.
The Group has also supported a wide range of social, health, sports, cultural, and environmental projects, reaffirming its cooperative spirit and strong ties to the communities where it operates.
