Energy and environment,
together

In the historical site of Faenza we have always produced different energy sources. Thermal and electrical energy come from grape processing waste, and pruning in the territory. Bioethanol is of agricultural origin and biomethane comes from the waste of Italian companies in the agri-food sector. Every day we work to combine agriculture and industry, nature and technology, ecology and energy, within a virtuous circle.

Founded in 2011 from a joint venture between Caviro Extra and Herambiente, Enomondo is the company that manages the innovative biomass combustion and compost production plant. Thanks to the availability of waste and by-products of the wine production of the Caviro Group supply chain, and the availability of material of Hera (cuttings and prunings from the territory), the plant is able to produce thermal and electric energy, combining industrial production and energy from renewable sources.

Biomass plants

The Enomondo thermal power plant mainly uses solid biomass as fuels: marc, wood-cellulosic waste, CSS/CDR and processable waste. The use of renewable fuels allows annual savings of climate-changing emissions of approximately 68,000 tons of CO2. The thermal and electrical energy produced by Enomondo, together with the electrical energy produced by the Caviro Extra plants, not only makes the Group’s factories self-sufficient, but also allows the energy surplus to be fed into the national grid.

Energy
self-sufficiency

In 2019, CAVIRO Extra, through its partnership with Enomondo, obtained the Guarantee of Origin (GO) – the plant qualification issued by the Energy Services Manager (GSE) which certifies that the electricity produced is derived from renewable sources. 100% of the electricity used by the Caviro Group is green, self-produced from renewable sources, and certified by the Energy Resources Consortium.

Sustainable mobility

We produce 3 different energy sources for automotive uses.

Bioethanol, a green additive to petrol, and biomethane, produced from food waste, are both certified as Green House Gas Saving for their reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuels.

CO2 Saved

The energy produced in 2019 from renewable resources at the Faenza plant has led to savings in climate-changing emissions of approximately 82,000 tons of CO2. This figure is calculated by making a comparison with respect to the use of natural gas from fossil sources.

Enomondo is also engaged in the production of compost and natural fertilizers. The quality of our Econat soil conditioner is certified by the Quality Mark of the Italian Composting Consortium. ACV Bio is obtained from raw materials of wood-cellulose origin, such as the residues from the maintenance of public and private ornamental greenery; ACM is produced from mowing and pruning, vegetative waste and agro-industrial processing waste.

Green compost

In addition to thermal energy, Enomondo is also engaged in the production of compost and natural fertilizers. The quality of our Econat soil conditioner is certified by the Quality Mark of the Italian Composting Consortium. ACV Bio is obtained from raw materials of wood-cellulose origin, such as the residues from the maintenance of public and private ornamental greenery; ACM is produced from mowing and pruning, vegetatative waste and agro-industrial processing waste. Econat soil improvers are used and tested at the Scarabelli Ghini Technical Institute of Agriculture and Chemistry in Imola and the Persolino Strocchi Professional Institute of Faenza.
