THE 1% CHANCE
When we speak about sustainability, the final goal is always the next one
Respect for the environment, the promotion of the safety and well-being of employees and consumers, and the adoption of sustainable and circular production models are fundamental themes for our Group. Every day, we dedicate energy and resources in line with the goals outlined by the UN in the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development of our planet. Here are the 9 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on which we exercise concrete action, through tangible and wide-ranging initiatives and projects.
Circular economy,
our model creates value
Environmental protection is the fundamental mission of our group. In recent years we have invested over 100 million euros to structure a new circular economy model, one of the most important case histories in Europe. Every day we work to preserve the value of natural resources. The recycling and regeneration of products and materials allow us to reduce the use of raw materials and energy at source. Thanks to this approach, we meet the needs of today’s generations, without compromising the possibilities of those to come. More than a virtuous cycle: our model is a testimonial that unites the present and the future.
Wine
It represents the union of 24 member wineries and over 50 wine-makers who work together every year to guarantee a high standard of quality and a wide selection of unique, award-winning wines on the Italian and international scene.
Our commitment goes beyond simply producing high-quality wine. Social responsibility is at the centre of our operations: we don’t just work for the wellbeing of our members and employees, but also for the health of the regions we operate in.
Supply chain by-products
From the processing of wine, tons of raw materials are obtained, such as lees, marc and grape seeds, ready to be transformed into ingredients and products with high added value.
Noble products
We use advanced processes and technology to obtain alcohols, tartaric acid, enocyanin and polyphenols from winery waste. These in turn constitute the raw materials for agricultural, industrial, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage companies all over the world. We also value the musts conferred by the supply chain.
Vegetative waste
The partnership with Herambiente allows the collection of mowings, prunings and other waste from the territory to produce energy, electricity and heat, from renewable sources, making the Group self-sufficient. Questo è il cuore della nostra ecosostenibilità.
Bioenergy and compost
Thanks to the anaerobic digestion plants, which process wine-making by-products and waste water from Italian agro-food companies, biogas and biomethane are generated.
Natural fertilizers
The last elements of the virtuous cycle are the sludges and soil improvers obtained from anaerobic digestion which, when used in agriculture as natural fertilizers, return to enrich the vineyards from which everything began with new organic substances. Yet again, we are working hard to operate production that fully follows the concept of circular economy.
Vineyards
It all began in the over 31,700 hectares of vineyards in 6 Italian regions where each land, with its own characteristics of exposure, climate and cultivation method, tells a different story and expresses its maximum value.
It is here that our example of a circular economy takes shape: everything that is produced in the vineyards is made the most of, from the grape clusters to the pruning waste.
Grapes
The grapes are cared for and meticulously collected by the 9,600 grape growers who, at each harvest, confer their harvests to the relevant wineries, guaranteeing their adherence to a traced and integrated supply chain.

Social sustainability
Being the largest vineyard in Italy brings with it a responsibility towards the communities and territories. The common thread, which characterises the modus operandi of Caviro and is reflected throughout the company, guarantees quality, food safety, protection of working conditions and the surrounding environment. These factors are confirmed by the certifications obtained, many of which are voluntary. Wellness, satisfaction and sense of belonging are key to bringing people together in an integrated, ethical supply chain, from the vineyard to the table.
Togheter with the UN
for sustainable development

A new business value
We are economically sustainable because our financial statements reflect solidity and allow long-term projects. We are socially sustainable because the effects of our financial statements have a positive effect on the whole community. We are sustainable from an environmental point of view because our concrete commitment to the circular economy leads to clear benefits in the area. The value of a company today is measured not only with the classic economic and financial indicators, but increasingly with its benefits on the territory and in the context in which it operates: for this reason, we are proud to present you the fourth sustainability report of Caviro Group.
